The short answer

Score-driven MDF allocation means ranking market development fund requests against a partner's live health score before anyone opens the queue, instead of approving them in the order they arrive or based on who's most persistent about asking.

The problem with how MDF usually gets approved

Most market development funds get approved on submission order, relationship seniority or how hard the partner manager pushing for it advocates. None of that actually measures whether the partner receiving the money is likely to turn it into revenue. A mediocre partner with a persuasive advocate can get funded ahead of a partner quietly producing real pipeline, simply because they asked first or asked louder.

What "score-driven" actually changes

Instead of a flat queue processed in arrival order, requests show up already ranked by the requesting partner's current health score. The strongest-performing partners surface first, not because they got there first but because the data says they're the best bet for that fund to actually produce a return.

What Is Score-Driven MDF Allocation?
"A ranked queue doesn't remove judgment. It just stops the loudest partner from winning by default."

What this looks like in a real queue

Each MDF request shows the amount requested, the campaign it's for and that partner's current score sitting right next to it, sorted score-first by default. A reviewer can approve the top of a ranked list in minutes instead of reading every justification with equal, undeserved weight. The requests that would've taken a week to get to now surface on day one if the partner behind them is actually performing.

Where judgment still matters

Score-driven doesn't mean fully automatic and it shouldn't. A newer partner with a thin pipeline but one strategic account already in motion might deserve funding despite a middling score. The ranking is a starting point for a decision not a replacement for one. Any override should require a visible reason attached to it, so the exception is on the record instead of quietly bypassing the system every time someone feels like it.

What Is Score-Driven MDF Allocation?

MDF allocation has always been a resource-allocation problem wearing an approval-form costume. Ranking requests against a real, current health score doesn't remove the human decision, it just makes sure the decision starts from actual performance data instead of who happened to ask first.
